Paving the Way for Automated Analysis of Biological Molecules
Biological macromolecule solid dosage forms are at the cutting edge of orally administered pharmaceuticals, but analyzing these complex structures poses new challenges.
Novo researchers have now achieved a breakthrough by demonstrating the first-ever automated Tablet Processing Workstation (TPW) for large molecule tablets, specifically a modified version of human insulin.
The study validated the TPW method for content uniformity, recovery, and carryover, showing equivalency with manual methods in repeatability and stability. While TPW’s sequential processing increases total cycle time, it significantly enhances productivity, reducing manual labor by 71% and improving laboratory safety.
As lab automation becomes more prevalent in pharmaceuticals, TPW’s ability to streamline sample preparation for macromolecule tablets makes it a valuable tool. Read the full study here.
