Thinking Outside the Vessel

The elegant complexity of drug release characterization demands versatility. Choosing a globally harmonized dissolution instrument, combined with innovative thinking, can streamline your research process.

Whether your focus is on APIs, modified release tablets, semi-solids, injectable suspensions, medical devices, or comparing various dosage forms, the flow-through cell dissolution technology may offer surprising benefits.

Originally developed for poorly soluble compounds, the open configuration of this technology allows for continuous media flow over the dosage form. This resolves solubility issues by maintaining sink conditions, and a seamless pH adjustment can be made to mimic the in vivo conditions of the GI tract. In the closed configuration, where the medium is recirculated through independent channels, the dissolution volume can be adjusted from 50 mL to 5 L. This flexibility allows you to adapt the procedure to the solubility of the active ingredient and the sensitivity of your analytical methods without altering the hydrodynamic conditions in the cell.
